On February 26, 2026, a literary evening titled “Songs Carried from the Peaks of Alatau” was organized to mark the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet, zhyrau, and folk singer Zhambyl Zhabayev, who deeply revered the traditional Kazakh poetic form “kara olen.”

The purpose of the event was to instill in students a love for poetry by introducing them to Zhambyl’s poetic talent, to teach them to appreciate and enjoy his poems, and through the poet’s works to awaken a sense of patriotism, humanity, and respect for the art and culture of their homeland.

The event began with a video presentation about the poet’s life, creative work, and epic poems. Student Amina Muftagalieva from the ҚТӘ IP 11/3 group performed a piece expressively.

During the evening, students recited the poet’s works:

  • Zhannur Salimova (ҚТӘ IP 11/3 group) recited the poem “Zildi Buyryq.”

  • Aidana Amanzholova presented “Zhambyl – Zhyr” by Kenen Azirbayev.

  • Nursaya Talap, a student of the Preschool Education group DO(IP)-11, recited “The Stingy Rich Man and the Generous Poor Man.”

  • Aikorkem Amangaliyeva, a student of DO(IP)-11/3, expressively read the poem “Stalin’s Descendants.”

Later, Arman Lukpanov, a student from the Fiz(IP)-11 group, demonstrated his musical talent by performing the traditional kui “Korogly.”

During the event, interactive communication with the audience was organized through a question-and-answer session, where participants responded to questions based on the information presented during the evening.

A book exhibition titled “Zhambyl – The Giant of Poetry” dedicated to the poet’s works was also presented. A bibliographic review of the exhibition was conducted by librarian Zhanar Bekbolatkyzy Kubiyeva.

The poems of Zhambyl are considered true gems of Kazakh poetry.
