The 21st century is the century of knowledge and science. And we all know that the source of knowledge is books. Therefore, the future of our country is the Library, which is becoming a cultural center that guides the life-long desire of young people to learn. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said, “Indeed, the most direct way to become a progressive nation is to read books. Therefore, we must establish the culture of reading books in society as much as possible.” In this regard, the most perfect tool for people to communicate with each other after language is a book.

The library is an environment that enriches a person’s mind, increases literacy, and nourishes them with knowledge. In order to contribute to the personal development of students and expand their horizons by attracting young people to reading books, identify and encourage active readers, the Scientific Library has made it a tradition to hold the “Reader of the Year” competition every year.

The goal: to promote the importance of reading books, attract young students to reading, and identify the best readers among students. To form a category of readers with a rich aesthetic taste, sharp mind, quick imagination, and comprehensive knowledge. On this occasion, the award ceremony of the “Reader of the Year - 2024” competition was held. Students and teaching staff of each faculty participated in the solemn event. The guests of the evening were the winners of the “Active Reader” and “Discovery Reader” nominations in the “Reader of the Year - 2023” competition.

The winner of the “Active Reader - 2024” nomination of this year’s “Reader of the Year - 2024” competition was Albina Khalimatova, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Talgatov Mintemir, a 3rd-year student of the Directing Education Program of the Faculty of Culture and Arts, and Kosaev Turganbek, a 3rd-year student of the Primary Education Program of the Faculty of Pedagogy, won the “Discovery Reader - 2024” nomination. Each reader expressed their best wishes and expressed their interest in reading books.

The main nomination of our evening, "Reader of the Year - 2024", will be determined at the Makhambet Best Awards Ceremony, and we will eagerly await it together.
